Quan Yin represents the qualities of compassion, love and kindness. She cares for, heals and consoles anyone who calls upon her. However, her attributes go far beyond just compassion; she is also connected with peace, spiritual learning and awakening.
Worshiped especially by women, this goddess comforts the troubled, the sick, the lost, the senile and the unfortunate. Her popularity has grown such through the centuries that she is now also regarded as the protector of seafarers, farmers and travelers. She cares for souls in the underworld, and is invoked during post-burial rituals to free the soul of the deceased from the torments of purgatory.
iQuan Yin: Hearer of Sounds
Quan Yin means “Hearer of Sounds.” She has a full name which is Quan Shih Yin, which also means “Hearer of the World’s Sounds.” Before entering heaven, she stood at the edge and heard humankind crying. This made her come back to earth to give help to those who are suffering. In Asia, she is trusted to help those who faithfully call on her while in trouble.
Quan Yin reminds us that if we have a goal to unite with God, then we need to live like God. We should be compassionate, loving, and merciful beings of light. In this path, we will have peace in our souls and a lot of joy in our hearts. A life full of peace and joy is everyone’s desire. All we have to do is choose.
